Will I have to replace the hammers?
There are times when the hammers have to be replaced. They may be damaged by water or heat conditions that have affected the piano. They may just be worn by years of heavy use. The tell-tale sign is that the hammers are extremely grooved and this affects the ‘voicing’ or tone of the music note. This means that the piano may be in tune but still sound ‘off’ because the worn hammers are preventing a pure sound from coming through.
